’Tis the season! And we have much for which to be thankful. In this season of gratitude and festiveness, however, there are some among us - in our own community - who are in need.
As the Yale Club of Hartford considers additional ways to better engage with the Greater Hartford community where we live, work, pray and/or play, what better way to build community than by volunteering to help our neighbors.
We have a new volunteer opportunity on Thanksgiving Day. Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 350 Albany Avenue, Hartford, provides a free sit-down community meal from 12pm noon until 2pm on Thanksgiving Day for those who might not otherwise have a Thanksgiving meal. Volunteers are needed for the following:
10am until 12pm Noon: Food preparation, beverage preparation, and set up of the dining room;
12pm Noon until 2pm: Serving the meal; and
2pm until 4pm: Clean-up
Volunteers are welcome to work at any or all of the 3 activities.
Youth are welcomed to participate, but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear with good traction, and please dress for the weather.
Thanks for participating in this YCH community service event!
